Plans for the World Trade Center
Just under a week ago, Roger Ebert turned his attention away from films to eloquently propose the World Trade Center become a simple, empty park.
The landlords, however, are thinking of building four, 50-storey towers on the site along with a memorial. They argue that it would not only make a strong moral statement, but refill some of lower Manhattan 's office space needs. I am sure the plans are totally unrelated to the 99-year lease (worth US$3.2 billion) on the property they signed just months ago.
