Coverage of the Olympic announcement
In the spirit of my little test of sites during the elections, I checked at some of Canada's big ones for coverage of the Olympic announcement between about 10:05 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.:
- The Globe and Mail: Broke the story that Beijing, with decent server speed.
- CANOE: Relatively fast loading, broke the news second.
- CBC.ca: Large server problems (slow and SSI-error galour), couldn't access until after the announcement, and the top story was that the voting was to begin…lower on the page was the announcement Beijing had one.
- National Post: Top headlines were that voting was to begin, and a Toronto bid committee member saying they were neck and neck.
- Yahoo: No mention of the win, though there is a mention of 12 being arrested in Moscow. Fast server speeds, as usual.
Once again, the Globe provided the best coverage, followed closely by CANOE.
