Privacy Policy

Happy Bloomsday!

A very interesting study, featured in a well-researched Online Journalism Review article, found that a little more than a third of the media Web sites surveyed disclose their privacy policies. While this was based on U.S. sites (a quick survey of some of Canada's major news sites found all had privacy statements), that country is the world's media behemoth. If journalism sites can't manage to be open about how they track users, why should commercial sites feel they should disclose the information?

Admittedly, didn't have a privacy policy until quite recently. But since the ability to personalize the homepage has been added, there is an official privacy statement. Though it hasn't been vetted by a lawyer, I think represents the intentions of the site (which are completely docile) fairly clearly. I'd be curious to know what you think.
